Hurdling Over Adversity

April 14, 1965, Twin City News-Record

Sometimes a do-it-yourself project can save the day, or at least save one from an empty pocketbook.  A good example here are the enterprising parents and students who saved considerable money by building their own hurdles for use in track events.  One wouldn't think something as mundane as a hurdle to jump over would be so complex and so expensive, but as the article states, the manufactured kind would have cost upwards of six times more than the cost of doing it themselves.  Kudos to the fiscally conservative!
