A short history of brewing in Menasha. The Winz property on Manitowoc Street eventually became Winz Park. The Walter Bros. Brewing Company is mentioned about twenty different times in this blog. Just do a search on "Walter."
In the 1980s I worked at the First National Bank of Menasha on Main Street. One of the customers told me he had worked at the Walter Bros brewery "back in the day" and claimed that workers were allowed to take home a "bucket" of beer at the end of their shift. I don't know if this is really true or not, but it made for an interesting story. I met a lot of interesting Menasha citizens during my years at the bank.
