October 10, 1969 Milwaukee Sentinel
With the
recent loss of Fuzzy Thurston, the Left Guard naturally came to mind. I
recently found this article via the Milwaukee Sentinel which portrayed how
prevalent it was for NFL players and other
professional athletes going into the restaurant business. We've covered the Left Guard and Fuzzy's involvement in

ReplyDeleteI vividly recall a Saturday night at the Left Guard in the 1960s when "Golden Boy" Paul Hornung showed up with a 44D bra looking for a date in a Cinderella-like fashion. What I don't recall is whether it was a Saturday night during the NFL season. It could have been.

I've heard many similar stories over the years. Guess that's what made them unique in that "Mad Men" era.
ReplyDeleteCool. I like the floor show add. Not too many places like that anymore except few clubs. I'd like to find a place with private booths like those described in Perry Mason books complete with fine dancing.
ReplyDeleteI remember the whole gang of Green Bay Packers coming into Mihm's for burgers and chili and malts in the 60's! We were located just behind the Left Guard! Those were the days....
