City Pool

With summer upon us, it's time to enjoy this color postcard which touts the recently opened Menasha Municipal Pool in the 1958-60 timeframe.  All the ladies have on their mandatory bathing caps.

  1. I spent a lot of time at the Menasha pool in the summers of my youth. Swimming lessons in the morning (so cold!!!), home for lunch, then bike back to the pool for the afternoon swim. And always had to stop by the bubbler by the water tower on 2nd St. on the way home.

  2. My summers were spent here too. 1:00 to 5:00, home for supper, then back to the pool from 6:00 to 9:00 when the underwater lights went on. So fun!

  3. Practically lived their during the 50s / 60s during the summer.... after swim lessons in the morning they had a free swim, so you could swim for about an hour, go home, eat lunch and come back till 5 -- go home, eat supper, come back till 9. then race home like a maniac so you could stop at the Tastee Freeze (now Coenens Auto Repair) and have a snack on the way home...

  4. I was older when it opened but it never held the adventure of a bike ride to the Neenah Rec
