June 4, 1923, Menasha Record
In retrospect, it seems ludicrous that Milwaukee, of all places, would require a boosters trip to pitch the city's good qualities to the likes of Neenah-Menasha. As a kid, I thought Milwaukee was all that and a bag of chips, as the saying goes, so why would we need to be convinced how cool Milwaukee is (was)? Of course, today, I recognize the idea of a boondoggle, and the purposes of said trip promoted good will for the city and gave these businessmen something to do, a trip akin to, perhaps, going to a sales convention, for example. And we know how wild those trips could be.
