What with spring training games beginning this week, I found this little item from June of '63 that brought a smile to my face. Imagine, seeing the great Satchel Paige in the ol' hometown.
Wasn't aware that this game took place, but what a game to have been able to watch. Unfortunately too few remember the great "Satchel Paige" and the clubs that played for towns. You have an amazing facility to present interesting stuff on a continuous basis.
I remember the Macs and ever since I first read about Capt. MacKinnon's breeding bull from England, Menasha Mac, I have wondered if that is how the Macs got their name. Does anyone know?
Pitcher Jim Meyer is my Uncle. He still lives near here. I remember watching many games at the field where Menasha wire works was om Milwaukee St and also at Jefferson. He also played basketball for Menasha, once playing at Menasha High against the Harlem Globe trotters. I am so thrilled to see Jim's name in here along with Satchel's. thank you for posting this. I will be sure that Jim gets to see it.

Would love to know the MACs lineup and outcome of the game. The MACs fielded some pretty good teams in that era.
