This ad takes me back to Christmases past. It wasn't Christmas without candy from Bowlby's around the house for entertaining. There are so many candies on this list you can't find just anywhere, to include the fried oysters, cherries on a wire, and the angel food candy. I don't exactly remember what the peco flake was, but I have many Christmas memories of chocolate covered cherries, my Mom's favorite.
We had an aunt that would get this candy and send it out of state to our mom for all of us to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for refreshing a fond memory from many years ago.

We would decorate the tree with cherries on a wire, and, of course, sneak them off the tree to eat.
ReplyDeleteBowlby's popcorn balls were the best. Last time we were in town we found a place near Waupaca that sold them. Delicious but not ten cents each anymore.
ReplyDeleteI used to enjoy the strings of rock candy and the wax sheets with colored dots of candy.

ReplyDeleteMy grandmother was one of Bumps Bowlby's first employees. She learned how to make chocolates and every Christmas,we would make chocolates at her home. My family has carried on the tradition.
