Going Up?

July 15,1965, Neenah-Menasha Daily Northwestern

Yes, the only escalator in the Twin Cities (at least at that time) held much fascination to this young man.  I recall pestering my folks to park behind the bank so we'd just HAVE to ride the magic stairway to the top.  But often times I failed at that plea.  I don't think they ever did put in the down version but I could be wrong.

  1. Thanks for this great post, David! I worked at the First National Bank of Menasha from 1985 to 1990. During that time, the escalator was normally turned off but could quickly be powered up for anyone requesting its use. I think the cost of electricity associated with running it constantly was probably very high. What a great memory--thanks, David!
