In 1969, America continued to be space crazy, having just witnessed the Apollo 11 astronauts landing on the moon in July. So is it any wonder that this attitude would bleed into advertisements and the popular culture? After all, America's youth WAS consuming record numbers of Tang and Space Food Sticks and even G.I. Joe had his own space suit and capsule.
