Here's a nostalgic photo to end your week, circa 1960 of a basketball game at the old basketball court. Look at those windows. If that isn't an anachronism, I don't know what is. The Bluejay plaque and the pennant on the wall certainly add period details to the tableau. The most modern aspect is likely the modern-for-its-time electronic scoreboard tucked into the upper corner.
I LOVED this gym. It was much better than the current MHS fieldhouse or SMC Ralph gym for the home team. When I was on the Junior Reserve team many of our games were Saturday morning and the sun would be bright coming thru those east windows. Coach VandenBoogardt always made sure that the opponent faced those windows on offense to begin the game. By the second half the sun was no longer shining thru. Fun memory. Thanks Dave
