Steam Heat

January 23, 1975, Neenah-Menasha Daily Northwestern
The ducks in Menasha always did seem to have it good, especially in the Gilbert Paper Company's pond.

  1. Not only were the ducks welcome to hang out in the partially heated pond, they were also well fed. My father worked in the Boiler Room at Gilbert Paper Company for over 40 years. On weekends and holidays, one of his duties was to feed the ducks. He once talked about how much birdseed he put out for the ducks on a typical day. Of course, as a young kid, I had little interest in the subject and have forgotten the exact amount. However, it was pretty substantial.
