More on Rev. Clinton

This article repeats a little bit from Monday's version, but gives a better biography of the Reverend.  The account of his Civil War service is amazing; and carrying such a large amount of money on behalf of his soldiers was truly brave.  A true man of integrity.

    Rev. Clinton treed a wildcat near high cliff and called for a nearby resident to shoot it. Menasha Advocate Feb. 6, 1854.

    He sold fruit trees and ornamental trees as a sideline. He also sold fruits and vegetables, specializing in apples. He also experimented with corn breeding and the making of syrup from the stalks. Menasha Advocate Apr. 3, 1854, Oct. 18, 1855 and Neenah Menasha Conservator Sep. 10, 1959.

    O.P. Clinton performed the wedding of his daughter Kate to Albert B. Bradish. Weekly Manufacturer Dec. 26, 1961. Bradish also served in the 21st Wisconsin Regiment. He enlisted as 1st Sergeant of Co. I. and finished the war as Captain.

    After the war, O. P. went back to into the nursery business selling trees and fruit cuttings. Winnebago County Press Mar. 25, 1871.

    Rev. Clinton invented an "ingenious" carriage gate in 1874. Neenah Gazette Oct. 3, 1874.

    Rev. O. P. Clinton mustered out of this world and went home to his Heavenly Father on the same day that the 21st Wisconsin held their annual reunion at Neenah. Neenah Daily Times June 17, 1890.

    If we get more info on the good reverend in the future, I will pass along some of his war experiences and illnesses that he suffered due to the hardships and extreme weather he experienced.
