Annexation?

In the sense that growth" means getting bigger, comes this demonstration of vitriolic name calling between two neighbors.  Being an 8 year old kid when this was going on and with more interest in Batman, naturally, than in civic affairs, I'm sorry I missed out on this.

But reading this now, when I can appreciate the nuances of a good insult, my fondness for the City's arrogance that they were going to "save" the Town of Menasha from the "colossus giant," Appleton, is only surpassed by the Town of Menasha's response that the City of Menasha is nothing more than a city of gas stations and taverns.  Ouch!

  1. What a fantastic response by the Town of Menasha. I've lived in all 3 communities while never moving more than 3 miles away.

  2. "Those who don't remember the past are condemned to repeat it".

Again, we see ourselves wasting previous resources battling over trival boarders - rather than merging communities to benefit all taxpayers / stakeholders for the best interests for generations to come.

Time for both the City of Menasha and Town of Menasha to 'merge' - create a new community, a population that would surpass Neenah and rival any other metropolitan in the Fox Cities. Pick the cream of the crop of Department Heads, elect new representatives, streamline jurisdictional oversight, eliminate duplication of services (snow plowing, fire protection, police protection, park services, etc.). Town taxes WILL rise - no doubt about it. City of Menasha 'should have' worked with the Town of Harrison and worked on incorporation of the entire area also - instead, repeated lawsuits and countersuits. Why fight each other when we could be such a wonder community if we only would work together.
