Wanserski's

May 14, 1968 NM Northwestern

I thought I'd featured Wanserski's at another time in this blog, but it appears I'm thinking of the book.  Despite my faulty memory, here's a fun little ad from 1968, featuring their chef logo.  Wanserski's was only too well known for its meats.  I had many a lunch where the highlight was the delicious ham salad from their deli.

  4. Continued from above, They also catered our wedding on Sept 17, 1975 for over 300 people and everybody loved the whole meal. What a great store it was. Sure miss the small time places like this.

  5. I worked there in 1971 through 1973 while in high-school. I cleaned the meat room, stocked shelves, and drove a catering truck. It was a great place with good people. Every night us muscle guys loaded 100 pounds of potatoes for the ladies to boil the next morning to make into potato salad. I also remember boiling pigs heads for the head cheese. I can still see the faces but only remember the name Zelinski, and my boss Tony Konopeki.
